Christian Counselling

We believe that God speaks into every human condition and circumstance. Whatever you're facing, you can find wisdom, light, hope and healing from God's word. No matter your beliefs, our counsellors are trained to apply a Biblical perspective to your circumstances in a way that is sensitively tailored to you.

Meet Louise

I grew up in Brisbane and became a Christian as a young adult, which means I've now been a Christian for over three decades. I have a Bachelor of Teaching and a Bachelor of Education and have worked as a primary school teacher for many years. I have always leaned toward helping others with various life issues, such as relational issues and anxiety.

Recently I completed a Graduate Diploma in Christian Counselling through the Australian Institute of Family Counselling. I prefer using a mix of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Person-centred and Solution-Focussed Therapy. I love helping people with relational and marital issues, or those struggling with anxiety.

I am available on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from 4pm at the Church Hub, at 7 Langley Road Camira, or online at an agreed day and time.

Group Workshops

Group workshops can be a great way to foster connections, share experiences, and grow together with others who may share similar struggles to you. All our workshops are facilitated by accredited professionals, and topics are addressed from a Christian perspective.

Throughout the year we offer the following 6-week workshops:

Coping with depression and anxiety
Participants will learn about the various symptoms and causes of depression and anxiety, including the cognitive, emotional, relational and environmental aspects involved. The group endeavours to equip participants with new skills for understanding and dealing with depression and anxiety.

Alternatives to anger
Participants will gain insight into issues such as the underlying causes of anger, learned anger behaviour, and more effective methods of dealing with anger. The group endeavours to equip participants with skills for positive communication and conflict resolution.

Self esteem
Participants will learn what self-esteem is, along with the causes and effects of low self-esteem. Importantly, the Christian truths which underpin a healthy and realistic self-esteem will be explored.

Pastoral Care

Life is a journey filled with joy, challenges, and moments of reflection. During times of change, loss, or uncertainty, having someone to listen, offer guidance, or simply share in your experiences can bring deep comfort and reassurance.

That's where pastoral care comes in. Pastoral care is about having someone to listen, support and walk alongside you. Pastoral care differs from counselling in that it's primarily spiritual care; designed to help you connect with God, grow in faith, and explore deeper questions of meaning and purpose.

Our pastoral care services are free for you and your family. Please feel free to get in touch with us using the contact details below.

Connection with others is also hugely important. At Westside we're striving to be a community of people who bear one another's burdens and support each other through the ups and downs of life.
